Jerad Block Wins Ashford University Teacher Scholarship
Winner will enroll in online Master of Arts in Education degree program

Jerad Block, a teacher in the Northeast School District in Goose Lake, Iowa, has been named the winner of Ashford University’s 2015 teacher scholarship.

Block was chosen from 10 applicants to receive the scholarship. He will enroll in Ashford’s online Master of Arts in Education degree program. The scholarship includes full program tuition, all books, and a technology fee waiver. This is the sixth year Ashford has offered the master’s level scholarship to area educators.

Block received his bachelor of arts degree in history education from St. Ambrose University in 2005 and then he returned to earn a social science endorsement. He is completing his eighth year of teaching at Northeast after being employed at the Central Community School District in DeWitt, Iowa and the East Central Community School District in Miles, Iowa.

In addition to being a teacher, Block has served on building and district leadership teams. Currently, he is the social studies department chair and he serves as an assistant track coach and head football coach.

Block and his wife, Chrissy, have two children, Melrose, 3 years, and Cohen, 10 months.
