Forbes School of Business and Technology at Ashford University faculty member Dr. Nils Jonas Ohrberg was invited to travel to Kenya as a guest speaker at Kenya Methodist University, addressing elements of diversity, inclusion, and the importance of acceptance, understanding, and reconciliation in society. During his trip, Dr. Ohrberg was also a guest speaker at a number of churches in Kenya and appeared on Kenyan broadcast television and radio as a guest expert in diversity and inclusion.

“It was a great honor to visit the country of Kenya and share my expertise in the topic of diversity and inclusion with many various audiences,” said Dr. Ohrberg. “Kenya includes 42 distinct tribes, which results in a beautifully diverse country with deep rooted and rich tribal and cultural traditions and histories. With the upcoming 2017 election, the people of Kenya have a real and significant opportunity to accept and perceive the humanity in each and every individual, and transform a divided people into a strong, unified, and successful nation.”

Dr. Ohrberg was invited to travel to Kenya as a result of his professional expertise, personal interest, and active participation with various organizations in the Washington D.C. area related to diversity, inclusion and multicultural elements in society. In addition, Dr. Ohrberg recently initiated The Forbes School of Business and Technology: Center for Diversity and Multicultural Business Research. This initiative was started to bring awareness to diversity and inclusion to the Ashford students’ learning experience and student career preparation.
