Ashford's generous grant was used to provide students from San Marcos Elementary School the opportunity to attend 6th Grade Camp at Cuyamaca Outdoor School. Children attending the weeklong program at Cuyamaca Outdoor School were able to experience and learn about nature, science, and life skills.

"Ashford University is proud to support the Outdoor Education Foundation's 'New to Camp' Program," said Dr. Tony Farrell, Ashford University's executive dean of the College of Education. "We believe every child is deserving of a quality education, and the experience students receive from attending Cuyamaca Outdoor School camp will only enhance a student's educational success."

Ashford's partnership with SDCOE spans eight years, and this partnership has provided more than $65,000 in donation support to SDCOE's Cuyamaca Outdoor School through the Outdoor Education Foundation. Through this program, students are given the hands-on opportunity to learn more about science and nature. Cuyamaca Outdoor School, which provides outdoor education to more than 11,000 students every year, is SDCOE's sixth grade camp program serving the Southern California region.
