Ashford University Launches New Master's Degree in Information Systems Management
Degree program will prepare students for employment in fields that leverage data analysis and information technology

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Forbes School of Business & Technology™ at Ashford University has launched a new master of information systems management (MISM) degree program. The online program is designed to prepare students for careers that require a holistic understanding of how technology impacts businesses and individuals. The degree program is currently accepting students.

The MISM program focuses on efficient management and business integration of information technology and prepares students for employment in fields that leverage data analysis and information technology. Students may select from three specializations in the program, including business intelligence, project management, or IT organizational management and leadership.

Graduates will be equipped to help organizations manage their information flow and technology to facilitate operational excellence. The degree is also designed to incorporate core technical knowledge appropriate to managing wider technology functions and processes within organizations.

"The program enables students to learn skills to align IT to business strategies, ensuring graduates will be able to lead important technology initiatives that benefit startups, growing businesses, and public organizations."

Throughout the program, students will collect their coursework into a portfolio that they can present to current or potential employers. The portfolio content will include Virtual Lab projects such as written programs, databases, and project plans. The Virtual Lab component of the MISM curriculum will provide students with the opportunity to work with a variety of different software including Java SDK (software development kit), MS SQL, SNORT, and Visual Studio Online (VSO) for Agile project management.
