Ashford University Launches New Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology
Degree program will help students develop a strong blend of business, organizational, technical, and interpersonal skills

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Forbes School of Business & Technology at Ashford University has launched a new Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) degree program. The online program is designed to prepare students for the breadth of technical skills required of modern information technology (IT) professionals in a fast-paced, rapidly changing global workplace.

The BSIT program focuses on software and application development, business analysis, networking (including cloud-based infrastructure and on-premises and serverless systems), information security, network engineering and administration, project management, and database development and administration. The program builds a foundation in business theory and practice to help students understand the impact of IT on the workplace and become technological problem-solvers.

Students who successfully complete the BSIT degree will be equipped to apply strategies and techniques toward system improvement and development of cutting-edge IT solutions, utilize state-of-the-art project management tools and technical skills to apply the appropriate System Development Lifecycle methods, evaluate integration possibilities of various technologies from multiple sources in one-user environment, develop risk management and system security plans and procedures using best practices and appropriate system quality standards, and assess ethical, legal, security, and social aspects and values within organizations.

Graduates of the BSIT programs will be qualified to pursue such positions as Software Developers, Computer Systems Analysts, Software Developers, Computer Network Architects, Web Developers, Information Security Analysts, and Computer and Information Research Technologists.
