SAN DIEGO, Sept. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Ashford University has once again been ranked among the Diverse Top 100 for bachelor's and master's degrees conferred to minority students. The 2017 rankings placed Ashford 11th for master's degrees awarded to minorities and 22nd for bachelor's degrees.
Specifically, Ashford ranks 2nd in the number of bachelor's degrees awarded and 8th in master's degrees awarded to African-American students. The university is ranked 17th in bachelor's degrees and 18th in master's degrees awarded to Native American students.
"Our mission centers on providing convenient, affordable access to high-quality higher education for working adults seeking to pursue their personal and professional goals," said Ashford University President Dr. Craig Swenson. "We welcome and serve a broad population of working adults. That members of minority populations recognize and appreciate what we do is extremely gratifying to our dedicated faculty and staff—and it is their spirit of inclusion that makes Ashford the diverse, unique, and innovative university it is today."
To compile the list, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education relied upon data sourced from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Rankings were determined based on IPEDS completion data for Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) and race/ethnicity. All institutions that distribute Title IV financial assistance and are open to the public are required to complete the IPEDS surveys—regardless of higher education sector.
