Ashford University announced today that its Baccalaureate Nursing program has been awarded accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Earning national accreditation from CCNE demonstrates the Ashford University RN (registered nurse) to BSN (bachelor’s of science in nursing) degree program meets the highest standards for quality and integrity in nursing education.

"This accreditation for Ashford's nursing program serves as formal recognition of our commitment to continuous quality improvement, as it requires not only initial accreditation but ongoing compliance with ever-changing standards," said Dr. Laura Sliwinski, Executive Dean, College of Health, Human Services, and Science. "Pursuing a bachelor's of science is a way for registered nurses to stand out and advance in their career."

"This is a major milestone for Ashford University and for our RN to BSN program," said Dr. Gwen Morse, Program Chair for the RN to BSN program. "We are thrilled to learn that the RN to BSN program is being recognized for meeting or exceeding national standards for nursing education."

Officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency, CCNE is an autonomous accrediting agency, contributing to the improvement of the public's health. CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate and post-baccalaureate residency programs in nursing.

CCNE granted the accreditation at its October 2018 meeting with the determination that Ashford University fully met the standards to grant accreditation to the baccalaureate degree program in nursing. The accreditation action is retroactive to the date of the site visit in January 2018 and extends to December 31, 2023, the maximum time period granted to new programs.
