The Ashford University men’s and women’s soccer teams both won opening round matches this past weekend to advance in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Soccer National Championships. Both teams now play in the 16-team championship round held in Alabama on Nov. 26-Dec. 1.
The Ashford women defeated Davenport University (Mich.) 4-3 in Clinton on Saturday, while the Ashford men recorded a 3-2 win over Benedictine College (Kan.) also on Saturday.
The Ashford women now face Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) on Monday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. CST in Orange Beach, AL. The winner advances to a Nov. 28 quarterfinal match.
The loser is eliminated from the tournament. The Saints need to win four consecutive matches to be crowned National Champions.
The Ashford men face Concordia University of Irvine, CA on Monday, Nov. 26 at 1:30 p.m. CST in Montgomery, AL. A Saints win puts them in a Nov. 28 quarterfinal match. The Ashford men also must win four consecutive matches to be crowned National Champions. The men’s tournament is single-elimination.
