Graced by spectacular Sunday weather, 2255 San Diegans came together with 550 active members of the U.S. military and their families for the second-annual Salute to Service Festival. Sponsored by Ashford University and hosted by local network NBC 7 San Diego, the Salute brought a day’s entertainment, casual dining and a heartfelt thanks to members of the U.S. military, all of whom attended for free.
“It took the gracious assistance of many volunteers and supporters of San Diego’s military population to make the Salute a success,” stated Jennifer Love Bruce, associate vice president of Community Relations. “Ashford University is thankful for this opportunity to show local members of America’s military community that their neighbors in San Diego are here for them.”
Held on the flight deck of the U.S. Navy’s historic U.S.S. Midway aircraft carrier floating museum, the Salute to Service provided attendees dining from Northgate Market, Souplantation, Pepsi, East Village Tavern & Bowl, Smart Foods, Olive Coast, Slater’s 50/50 and Jack Daniel’s Barbecue Sauce.
