Ashford University Art Professor Selected for CSA Program
Anna Pagnucci will create 50 paintings for art project

Anna Pagnucci, art professor at Ashford University, will create 50 small paintings as a participant in the Community Supported Art (CSA) program in Des Moines.

Pagnucci was one of nine artists selected from 80 applicants to create artwork for the CSA project. Selected artists receive $1,000 and produce 50 works – one for each project patron supporting the program.

“My 6” x 6” paintings are semi-abstract but they do have an allusion to trees,” Pagnucci said. “Each piece will be different, but the overall subject and materials are the same, so the work will be cohesive as a series even though each piece will go to a separate individual.”

She said the program’s artwork will be presented during three receptions in Des Moines.

Her work will be featured at the first reception on April 4. “People have purchased shares based on work samples from each of the artists selected by committee for the project,” she said.

“At the first event ceremony, I, along with two other artists, will present our work to the buyers. There will be a party and reception for each date where the artists will be featured and where we will meet the buyers. It should be exciting. The buyers will have a sense of what they are getting, but they won’t have actually seen their piece until the ceremony which puts pressure on the artists to meet an unknown client demand.”

The nine artists for the 2014 season are all from Iowa. They are photographers, painters, printmakers, and sculptors.
