Vice President of Education Policy for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Appointed to Ashford University Board of Trustees
Cheryl Ann Oldham brings extensive experience in public policy to the Ashford Board

Cheryl Ann Oldham has joined the board of Trustees for Ashford University. With 20 years of experience in public policy, education, and government relations, Oldham will strengthen the Board’s leadership. Her term begins immediately.

“I am honored to have Cheryl Oldham join the Ashford Board,” said Dr. Richard Pattenaude, president and chief executive officer of Ashford University. “We value her expertise in education and public policy. It will be greatly beneficial in helping to shape the future of the University.”

Oldham’s distinguished career includes eight years in President George W. Bush’s administration with the Office of Cabinet Affairs and the Office of Presidential Personnel. Most recently, she served in a variety of roles with the U.S. Department of Education, including acting assistant secretary for the Office of Postsecondary Education and chief of staff for the Office of the Under Secretary of Education. She was also appointed executive director of the Secretary of Education’s Commission on the Future of Higher Education.

Oldham began her career serving as health and human services policy director for the Texas Office of State-Federal relations in Washington, D.C. She earned her JD from St. Mary University’s School of Law and her BA in Political Science from Texas Christian University.
