'Clue: the Musical' Comes to Ashford University Stage
Musical show based on classical board game

“Clue,” the classic board game, comes to life on the Ashford University stage on Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22, when students present “Clue: The Musical.”

The two performances, being held at 7:30 p.m. in the Mullany Theater, are open to the public. Admission is $5.00. Ashford students with valid IDs will be admitted free.

“Clue: The Musical” is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. Its book was written by Peter DePietro, music by Galen Blum, Wayne Barker, and Vinnie Martucci, and lyrics by Tom Chiodo. The musical is based on the Parker Brothers board game.

Each performance promises to be different since the show’s ending is determined by cards drawn by audience members that determine the murderer, murder weapon, and location of the murder. Based on the cards drawn, the show has 216 possible endings.

Cast members include Nic Palmeri, Stillman Valley, Ill. (Mr. Boddy); Monique McNutt,  Florissant, Mo. (Mrs. Peacock); Matt Engelson, Clinton, Iowa (Professor Plum);

Rebecca Meinema, Zeeland, Mich. (Miss Scarlett); Charley Holsinger, Stillman Valley, Ill. (Col. Mustard); Samantha Cameron, Davenport, Iowa (Mrs. White); Erich Taach,  Clinton, Iowa (Mr. Green), and Amber Elkins, Clinton, Iowa (Detective).

The production is directed by Kris Doss, a 2009 graduate of Clinton High School and a recent graduate of the University of Dubuque, where he earned a bachelor of fine and performing arts degree with an emphasis in theater. Rob Engelson, professor of music at Ashford, is music director.
