Forbes School of Business® at Ashford University Concludes the Forbes Women’s Summit Video Series with “Equality & Diversity”
New video highlights the importance of encouraging diverse voices in business

The Forbes School of Business at Ashford University today released the final title in its series of videos from the 2015 Forbes Women’s Summit. The new video, titled “Equality & Diversity,” can be viewed online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AnsR-UP1IQ.

The “Equality & Diversity” video features interviews with Dr. Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; Roya Mahboob, CEO of the Digital Citizen Fund; Ramona Pierson, founder of Declara; and Yvette Campbell, president and CEO of the Harlem School of the Arts. They talk about attracting diverse talent in business, the challenge of obtaining equality, and what employers should consider when making hiring decisions.

“We couldn’t be a great company if we didn’t have diversity of thinking and diversity of ideas,” Ramona Pierson, founder of Declara, said in the video. “We have to give voice to those diverse ideas.”

The idea that diversity makes good business sense resonated with the faculty at the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University.

“Diversity in talent can bring innovative ideas into the workplace,” said Dr. Karen Ivy, program chair at the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University. “Innovative ideas can then lead to new products, new services, an expanded customer base, and increased profit.”

The Forbes Women’s Summit took place on June 10, 2015, in New York City. It brought together 250 leaders from the worlds of business, philanthropy, education, media, and entertainment. As the official education partner for the summit, the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University had unique access to interview the leaders who participated in the event and gain their insight on several key issues. Those interviews have been compiled into a series of videos that the Forbes School of Business has released over the course of the last month. Other videos in the series covered topics such as “Creating Change,” Mentorship & Support,” “Business Acumen,” and “Finding Your Passion.” All of the videos are available on Ashford University’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5ut6byjibUP11LFI9EHY0Q.
