Steve Forbes in San Diego for Intimate Conversation with Students, Led by New Forbes School of Business Dean Bob Daugherty
Public invited to view live stream presentation on March 7

Forbes Media chairman and editor-in-chief Steve Forbes joins Forbes School of Business executive dean Bob Daugherty for the opening event of The Forbes School of Business at Ashford University 2016 Distinguished Speaker Series. This intimate event, attended by select students, faculty, dignitaries, and media, will be held at 6:00 p.m. PST on Monday, March 7 at the University Club in San Diego.  Forbes, who will be introduced by Forbes School of Business’ new leader, Daugherty, will speak on the topic of U.S. monetary flow and entrepreneurial capitalism.   The speeches will be live streamed online at sdstreaming.com/ashford and the public is invited to watch.

As chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media, Forbes writes the “Fact and Comment” editorial columns for each issue of Forbes magazine. He is a four-time recipient of the Crystal Owl Award and has authored several books on economics and leadership. In 1996 and 2000, Forbes was a candidate for the presidency of the United States.

This event will represent Daugherty’s formal introduction as dean of the Forbes School of Business. In this role, he oversees all academic, curricular, and co-curricular policies and programs for the University. Prior to joining Ashford, Daugherty served as the CEO of the Jack Welch Management Institute, chairman of Eduventures, CEO of Cognitive Arts, and he held leadership roles at corporations like GE Capital and other private equity institutions. Daugherty has served on notable panels at conferences and symposiums, speaking on topics ranging from international higher education to venture capital investing. Most recently, Daugherty served as a Fulbright Specialist, participating in a program funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs where he worked with college and university presidents and boards in Africa and the Middle East. Daugherty holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University, a master’s degree in American Studies from Columbia University, and a master’s degree in management from University of Cambridge.

“I have asked Steve Forbes to speak at this year’s opening of Forbes School of Business’ 2016 Distinguished Speaker Series on the topic of U.S. monetary flow and entrepreneurial capitalism,” Daugherty said. “It is an enormously relevant topic to our students and the content will be mentioned via my twitter account @Daugherty_Twit.”

The Distinguished Speaker Series is one of many complimentary content benefits for the students of the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University. Launched in 2014, the speaker series provides a forum for business experts to share their extensive business knowledge with the Ashford community. The next event Daugherty will present will be held in San Diego and will feature Shama Hyder, CEO of the The Marketing Zen Group, bestselling author of The Zen of Social Media Marketing. Hyder has frequently appeared on Fox News and is featured in major publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur, Inc. Magazine, and Forbes.
