Ashford University Awards Homefront Heroes Scholarships to Military Spouses
Five military spouses receive scholarships to pursue their educational goals

Ashford University has awarded Homefront Heroes Scholarships to five military spouses in San Diego County. Dr. Lizy Lamboy-Naughton, vice provost of faculty at Ashford University, presented the scholarships at Copley Symphony Hall in the Jacobs Music Center during the San Diego Symphony’s Home for the Holidays concert on December 17.

“Tonight is an opportunity to show our gratitude to all of the spouses and families who stand alongside our men and women in uniform,” said Dr. Lamboy-Naughton during the presentation. “You too are serving our country by providing the love and support that our service members need to continue protecting all of us. So thank you to all of the military families here tonight.”

The Homefront Heroes Scholarship recognizes the strength and support military spouses provide our nation’s service members. The scholarship covers tuition and books to help the partners of military men and women pursue their degrees at Ashford University.

The 2015 Homefront Heroes Scholarship recipients are Tania Rodriguez, Jennifer Dixon, Lacey Nowlin, Sheri Myles, and Ebony Robinson. The scholarship winners were selected from a pool of applicants who submitted essays explaining how being married to a service member has influenced their education and career goals, and how receiving a scholarship would enhance their future.

Ashford University created the Homefront Heroes Scholarship program five years ago to honor the spouses of American service members. The scholarships recognize the hard work and sacrifices of military spouses who serve their country alongside their loved ones in uniform. The program aligns with the University’s giving mission to focus on the areas of education, youth, and the military.
