CLINTON, Iowa, Feb. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Ashford University's senior guard Jason Landry won his round one match in the "Dark Horse Dunker" competition and has moved on to round two. "Dark Horse Dunker" nominees are under-the-radar players who have what it takes to compete against the Division-I field during Final Four weekend. The winner will participate in the Denny's Slam Dunk Competition at the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships in New Orleans March 29 on ESPN.
Sixteen dunkers were selected to compete in the "Dark Horse Dunker" Facebook bracket, a four-week knockout competition. Fans will determine the winner by voting during each round at the official Facebook page (Facebook.com/collegeslam).
Landry is a 6'2" high-flyer who soars above defenders. He is a fearless and ferocious dunker who makes defenders think twice about going for the block. After defeating the University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff's Savalace Townsend in round one, Landry will face-off against David Kyles of Wichita State University.
