As part of Ashford University’s ongoing efforts to serve its current and former military students, the school has established a military-specific Facebook page: facebook.com/AshfordMilitary. The focus of the new Facebook page is to provide a venue for camaraderie among military learners and to build a robust online community for Ashford’s current and former military students. Early interest in the Ashford University Military Facebook page soared to more than 2,000 “likes” after just two days.

Ashford University, an advanced educational institution owned by Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI), had an established Facebook presence already, with almost 50,000 followers as of April 2012. The new military-specific Facebook page was developed in a combined effort by Ashford’s Office of Student Access and Wellness, Military Veteran Student Taskforce and Bridgepoint’s New Media team.

“Ashford University and its staff are grateful for the opportunity to educate students in the military, as well as those who’ve retired from service. Our military Facebook page is meant to offer them one more pillar of support,” stated Amber Eckert, associate vice president of Student and Alumni Affairs for Bridgepoint Education. “Improving student-community dialogue in this manner improves the learning experience for all students, military or not.”
