It will be “Ashford University Night” when the Clinton LumberKings take on the Lake County Captains Saturday, April 21 at Ashford University Field in Clinton, Iowa.
Ashford University staff, faculty and alumni have been invited to a private event in the picnic garden area from 4:30-6:00 p.m. as part of its 15th annual “Alumni Night at the Ballpark.”
Then, at 5:30 p.m., the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially inaugurating the recently renamed “Ashford University Field.”
Following that ceremony, Ashford will recognize the 2012 winners of its teacher scholarships and “Teacher of the Year” award. Scholarship winners may choose to enroll in either of Ashford University’s two online teacher education programs – the Master of Arts in Education or the Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology. These scholarships include full program tuition, all books, and a technology fee waiver.
The recipient of the “Teacher of the Year” award will receive $500.00 for classroom materials or supplies.
Ashford students will also participate in pre-game activities – with a group singing the national anthem and the president of the Student Government Association throwing out the game’s first pitch.
Free tickets to the game, which begins at 6 p.m., are available at area businesses and at Ashford University.
