Ashford University students Jerrika Castillo of Coralville, IA and Heather McCue of Rock Falls, IL were among 15 outstanding regional women who were recently honored for their exceptional leadership initiative, high academic achievement and for making a difference in their school and community. The Ashford pair was recognized on March 8 when nearly 300 women leaders gathered for the Women’s Connection “Women in Leadership” event in Davenport, IA.
“The purpose of the ‘Women’s Connection’ Emerging Women Leaders Recognition Program is to raise up and honor regional female collegiate students who are excelling as leaders both academically and within their communities,” said Women’s Connection executive director Colleen Rafferty. “We believe it’s important to bring along the next generation of women leaders.”
Castillo is a senator on Ashford’s Student Government Association (SGA) and has served on its homecoming committee. She is also a resident assistant, a member of the AU dance team and plays on the university’s soccer team.
