The Golden Key International Honour Society chapter at Ashford University has been named a winner of the 2014 Key Chapter Award.
“We are thrilled to select the chapter at Ashford University as one of our 2014 Key Chapters,” said Brad Rainey, Golden Key executive director. “We appreciate all the hard work the Ashford chapter has done throughout the year as we rely on our chapter leadership to help us accomplish our mission.”
Before applying to become a Key Chapter, a chapter must achieve Gold Chapter status – a distinction only achieved by 25% of chapters – by fulfilling all activity and service requirements. Golden Key’s International Leadership Council then reviews all Key Chapter applications and selects the winners. Of the 84 chapters that earned a Gold Chapter status in 2014, only 23 were named Key Chapters for the 2013-2014 academic year.
“Our students dedicated themselves to performing at the highest levels while serving in the community, serving in the school system, and maintaining high academic standards,” said Dr. William Woods, advisor of the Ashford chapter. “Being awarded the Key Chapter Award after having met the Gold Chapter standard has placed our students in an elite grouping with other major universities.”
Gema Delgado, president of the Ashford Golden Key chapter, and three other Ashford students will represent the chapter at the Golden Key International Conference in Boston July 31-August 3.
