During the Ashford University commencement ceremonies on October 5 at the San Diego Convention Center, graduate Kyle Baucum was presented with the Forbes School of Business Senior Project Scholarship.
Baucum received $5,000 that will be applied to his future tuition in the master’s degree program at the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University. “Continuing my Ashford education will provide me with the knowledge of the business world that I greatly need as well as some valuable perspective that will assist me in changing my career in the direction that will best serve my interests,” Baucum said.
Last fall, Baucum received an offer to join the management team at his local rail terminal. His presentation, “The Great Recession at BNSF,” explored economic influences on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad from 2007-2009. He analyzed the current situation and offered management and leadership ideas to meet future demands of the business.
The 2014 Senior Project Scholarship opportunity was open to Forbes School of Business students who completed their bachelor’s degree capstone course or senior project and alumni who graduated within one year of the July 7, 2014 entry date. Judged by a committee of Forbes School of Business faculty members and Forbes Media leadership, finalists were selected based on their applications and letters of intent to pursue a master’s degree.
