Ashford University was recognized for its success in awarding degrees to minority students in Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine’s annual rankings of the Top 100 Degree Producers.

Each year, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education publishes lists of the Top 100 producers of associate, bachelor’s, and graduate degrees awarded to minority students based on research conducted by Dr. Victor M.H. Borden, a professor of educational leadership and policy studies at Indiana University, Bloomington. This data is the only national report on the ability of U.S. colleges and universities to award associate, bachelor’s, graduate, and professional degrees to African-American, Hispanic, Asian American, and Native American students. The final rankings were based on the total number of all degrees awarded at every American college, as well as specified figures in major fields of study and disciplines.

Ashford was repeatedly cited throughout the rankings, including first place citations for conferring bachelor’s degrees to African Americans in the disciplines of education, psychology, and social sciences. Across all disciplines, Ashford ranked second for awarding bachelor’s degrees to African-Americans.

For Hispanic students, Ashford ranked 28th across all disciplines in awarding bachelor’s degrees. Ashford also placed in the top ten for conferring bachelor’s degrees in the specific fields of health and medical administrative services, business administration, education, and human resources management.

Ashford ranked in the top ten for conferring bachelor’s degrees to Native Americans in the fields of health and medical administrative services, psychology, business administration, education, and natural resources and conservation. Ashford also ranked 11th across all disciplines for awarding bachelor’s degrees to Native American students.

For Asian Americans, Ashford also ranked top ten in awarding bachelor’s degrees in the fields of health and medical administrative services and education.
