Forbes School of Business at Ashford University Awards Three Entrepreneurship Scholarships
Winner selected from students who exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit

Forbes School of Business at Ashford University has awarded Entrepreneurship Scholarships to three students. The winning students are Farideh Farhangi from Novato, Calif.; Christopher Gross from Reisterstown, Md.; and Gabriella Hong from Renton, Wash.

The Entrepreneurship Scholarship is available to prospective students, students currently enrolled in a Forbes School of Business at Ashford University degree program, returning students, and alumni of Ashford University degree programs. The scholarship award winners receive $5,000 applied to future tuition in a Forbes School of Business degree program.

A committee of Forbes School of Business faculty members selected the winners based on the most compelling applications, the applicant’s current business and/or new business idea, and the business’ potential impact on the economy.

“I feel honored and privileged to receive the Forbes School of Business Entrepreneurship Scholarship Award,” said Farhangi. “This scholarship will not only support me financially, but also inspires me to further engage in translating my knowledge into action. As a mother of three daughters – two already in college – this award brings pride to my family.”

Founded in the basement of her home, Farhangi’s company, CP Lab Safety, was based on her husband’s invention. “It’s a simple idea, a funnel with a lid that prevents the chemical vapor from getting into labs,” said Farhangi. “Today, people care more than ever about their health and safety as it relates to the food they eat, water they drink, and air they breathe.”

Gross is the owner and sole proprietor of a training and coaching consulting business called Seeds of Life LLC. He believes his bachelor’s degree in organizational management will help him grow Seeds of Life by providing credibility and a greater understanding of how organizations can be managed more efficiently.

“The scholarship will give me an opportunity to continue working on my education and help to ensure a bright future for Seeds of Life and the businesses we serve,” Gross said.

Hong invented the Talking Glow Helmet to decrease the number of motorcycle accidents. “The helmets are designed to help motorcyclists see in the dark and they help to make riders more visible,” said Hong. “Additionally the helmet provides directions to your desired destination based on your current location and will reroute itself if you choose an alternative route. The helmet is programed with more than 500 languages the user can choose from.”

Students and prospective students are invited to apply for Forbes School of Business Entrepreneurship Scholarships. The deadline for the current scholarship offering is October 27, 2014.
