In honor of military appreciation month, Ashford University hosted a military speaker event on May 24 titled “Elevate Your Military Cultural Competence: A Student Panel.” The panel discussion featured current Ashford military students and alumni with a military status or affiliation.
Hosted at Ashford’s Sunroad headquarters in San Diego, the event was attended by nearly 70 guests and was viewed online by more than 100 participants. The military speaker series provided an opportunity for local students, faculty, and staff to hear firsthand accounts of life as a military student. Panelists also shared knowledge on special services, groups, or accommodations catering to the military community. The focus of the discussion was exploring military culture and excelling in meeting the needs of military students.
Also in attendance was special guest speaker Dr. Richard Pattenaude, who is a veteran of the U.S. Army, Ashford University’s president emeritus, and a professor of political science at Ashford. The panel was moderated by Thad Trapp, U.S. Marine Corps Ret. and Ashford divisional vice president.
