CLINTON, Iowa, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Ashford University (AU) has announced the introduction of two new specializations and one additional minor to its bachelor's degree program offerings. The three academic programs: a minor and specialization in Political Science & Government, along with a specialization in History; were added as part of the university's continuing efforts to increase high-quality, innovative and easily-accessible study options for AU students.
"Our global socioeconomic situation requires that we improve our national understanding of politics, at the national and international level," said Dr. Elizabeth Tice, Provost for AU. "Through these programs, Ashford addresses the growing demand for people who understand the significance of the increasing complexities of our nation and world. Even if they chose not to participate in politics directly, this program will help them to become better-informed citizens."
Enrollment for the new series of courses, being offered through AU's College of Arts & Sciences, began March 20, 2009. The minor in Political Science & Government is being offered to both online and on campus students. Classes for the two specializations: History and Political Science & Government, are currently being offered to online students only.
Graduates of AU, who complete coursework for the minor or specialization in Political Science & Government, or specialization in History, will be academically prepared for careers in public service, non-profit agencies, government, education, law enforcement, social science, and/or resource allocation.
