SAN DIEGO, July 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI), a provider of postsecondary education services focused on providing higher access to higher education, has announced that its two academic institutions, Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa and University of the Rockies in Colorado Springs, Colorado will participate in the GI Bill's Yellow Ribbon Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program) under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The program allows colleges and universities to enter into dollar-for-dollar matching agreements with the federal government to pay veterans' educational costs above those covered by the base GI Bill benefit.

Under the program, new university students who have been determined to be eligible by the Department of Veteran's Affairs may be qualified to have 100% of their tuition covered under the terms of the program. Individuals who are entitled to the maximum benefit rate may be eligible to receive the funding if he/she:

  • Served an aggregate period of active duty, after September 10, 2001, of at least 36 months;
  • Was honorably discharged from active duty for a service connected disability and served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001;
  • Is a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill, based on a veteran's service under the eligibility criteria listed above.

Availability of funding under this program is on a first-come, first-served basis. Prospective Yellow Ribbon Program students are encouraged to first visit the Department of Veteran's Affairs website at www.gibill.va.gov for information about applying for benefits. Active duty military are not eligible for this benefit.
