Ashford University reaffirmed its commitment to promoting education by announcing plans to award full scholarships to four San Diego County teachers. This is the fourth consecutive year that Ashford University has offered full scholarships to local educators.
The scholarships can be used to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology or a Master of Arts in Education. Both degree programs were created to prepare educators to meet the evolving needs of students in a rapidly changing world. For example, the Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology degree aims to develop skills in using emerging technology as educational tools.
“At Ashford University, we believe in the long-term power of education,” said Ashford University president Jane McAuliffe. “By helping to educate teachers today, we are helping students succeed in the years to come.”
Applicants are currently being sought for the Ashford University scholarship opportunities. To be considered for a scholarship, San Diego teachers must submit a letter of nomination from their school principal, a letter of recommendation from a colleague and an essay explaining how their degree would increase student achievement and how they plan to share their knowledge with peers. Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a grade point average of 2.0 or above.
The four teachers who are selected to be scholarship recipients will be honored at a special Teacher Appreciation Night at a San Diego Padres game. Ashford University will be the title sponsor of the event, to be held on April 16 at Petco Park.
