Tiffany Harris, a 1994 graduate of Mount St. Clare College (MSC), was inducted into the Mount St. Clare College/Ashford Alumni Hall of Fame during the university’s recent Homecoming Dinner and Dance. 

“This year’s inductee has a strong community involvement, dedication to our students here at Ashford, and the entire Clinton community,” said Liza Johnson, Ashford University Career Service and Alumni coordinator. 

Born in Farrell, PA, Harris attended Farrell High School and lettered as a three-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball and track. She was a two- time state champion in volleyball and in track and was named to the first All-State volleyball team during her senior year. After graduating from high school in 1990 Harris attended Wabash Valley Community College on a volleyball scholarship. As a freshman there, she walked on to the basketball team, eventually earning dual scholarship in both volleyball and basketball by her sophomore year. 

In the spring of 1992 Harris transferred to MSC, where her boyfriend who is now her husband, Marcus, was attending.   After receiving her BA degree, she started her career at New Directions in Clinton, IA and is still employed there as a certified prevention specialist focusing on substance abuse prevention work throughout Clinton County. 

In 2007 she received the Peace and Justice Award and in 2008 received the Martin Luther King Jr. Award.  She has been involved in many different community projects and groups, including Red Ribbon Week, Clinton Youth Group, and the Juneteenth Celebration. 

Leslie Mussman, one of Harris’s former co-workers, said, “Tiffany has taught me so much about reaching goals no matter the obstacles. She is dedicated to the youth of Clinton, particularly those kids who come from backgrounds and homes similar to her own. I truly believe that she has been the sole reason for many of the opportunities available to youth in Clinton over the past 15 years.” 

In presenting the Hall of Fame award, Johnson said, “Tiffany is a different type of alumna. She took advantage of all that college had to offer and has continued to give back, whether it has been by supporting our athletic teams, helping Ashford staff with focus groups and ideas, or being available to students as a mentor and friend.” 

Tiffany and Marcus have a daughter, Monique, who is a freshman at Clinton High School.
