“Issues Surrounding the Obama Presidency” will be explored during Ashford University’s Scholars Institute Symposium on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in the University Chapel, located on the third floor of the University’s St. Clare Hall.
The symposium is an opportunity to hear several AU faculty members give their analysis on the historical significance of the last presidential election and what it means for the future of America. Presentations will center on the following topics: Security/War/International Relations; Economy/Stimulus Packages; Environmental Policies/Energy Policies; and Human Services/Education Funding/Health Care.
“This is the first of what we hope will be many such events sponsored by the Scholars Institute,” said Dr. Rob Engelson, Director of the Institute. “Our goal will be to present a different symposium every month to six weeks that will focus on a particular aspect of American culture, whether it be education, health care, the arts, foreign policy or whatever the interests of our students may be.”
Panel members for the symposium will include Dr. Curt Lowe, Dr. John Ivens, Dr. Charlie Minnick, Dr. Michael Wiseman, Dr. Shukhrat Usmanov and Dr. John Zimmerman. Following the presentation, there will be a question and answer period.
The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
