"Print Types," an educational exhibit from the Print Consortium of Kansas City, will be on display in Ashford University’s Cortona Art Gallery November 7 through December 2.

The exhibit is composed of 30 prints displaying a wide range of printmaking processes and techniques, both traditional and experimental, that are available to today’s printmaker. Included are examples of planographic, relief, intaglio and serigraphic processes, as well as the monoprint and prints that incorporate more than one process. 

The exhibit includes a brief overview of the four basis printmaking processes and labels for each print that identify and comment on the process used, according to Robert Kennon, head of Ashford’s Art Department.

A reception will be held in the gallery on Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 3 until 5 p.m.

The Cortona Gallery, located on the second floor of the University’s Clare Hall, 400 N. Bluff Blvd., is named for Sister Cortona Phelan, OSF, former president of Mount St. Clare College and President of the Sisters of St. Francis.  She influenced the quality of education at the College through her teaching of American history and her love of the arts for many years.  She also served as MSC Academy Principal and as Dean of Students at the College.
