Ashford University has added several members to its faculty as the 2006-07 gets underway.

Michael D. Burton, Mt. Carroll, IL, will be teaching in AU’s College of Business. He received a B.A. degree from the University of Notre Dame and his doctorate of jurisprudence from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, IN. He was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 1988. He had been employed as an account manager at Quad Cities Business Systems, Davenport, IA.

Wayne Clugston joins Ashford’s faculty as a visiting professor, teaching English courses. Clugston, who also serves as the University’s Senior Vice President for Academic Development and Innovation, received his B.A. degree from Roberts Wesleyan College, Rochester, NY; his M.A. from State University of New York at Buffalo and his Ed.D. from Seattle University, Seattle, WA.

Teaching sociology and psychology courses will be Ted H. Eilders, Ph.D., from Alta, IA. He comes to Ashford from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, where he served as pastor since 2003. He has taught at Northwestern College on Orange City, IA and Upper Iowa University in Fayette. Eilders received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Concordia College in River Forest, IL, an M.Div. from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA and his Ph.D. from The University of Iowa.

Edward J. Gall, Clinton, IA, was hired to teach religion, philosophy and general science courses. Most recently he was an adjunct faculty member at Ashford and Black Hawk College in Moline. He graduated with a B.S. degree from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barrer, PA and then received his M.S. degree from Clemson University, Clemson, SC. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Covenant Theological Seminar in St. Louis, MO.

Heading Ashford’s art program will be Jenny R. Pauckner of Indianapolis, IN, who received her M.F.A. from Indiana State University, Terra Haute. She earned her B.A. from Marian College in Indianapolis and a certification in secondary education: art from Indiana Wesleyan University in Indianapolis. She most recently was a graduate teaching assistant at ISU.

Carl Robinson, Orange, VA, joins Ashford’s faculty as an instructor of English and oral communication. Since 1999 he taught at Kent State University, Kent, OH. He received a B.A. from Randolph-Macon College, M.A. from Virginia Tech and his Ph.D. from Kent State.

Shukhrat M. Usmanov, who will be teaching physics and math classes at the University, was most recently a research assistant at North Dakota State University. He received his Ph.D. from NDSU and his B.S. and M.S. equivalent degrees from Tashkent State University, now the National University of Uzbekistan. 

Judy Veranas comes to Ashford from Touro University International – School of Business in California where she was an online instructor. She will be teaching business, art and computer graphics at AU. Her degrees include B.A. and B.Sc., M.S. from the University of Paris, M.S. from the University of Montreal and a Ph.D. from University Paul Sabatier, France.

Chemistry classes at Ashford are being taught by Steven A. Walstrum, Dubuque, IA. He has taught the subject at several colleges, most recently at Iowa State University in Ames and Waldorf College in Forest City, IA. He holds a B.S. degree from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL; and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
