In partnership with the San Diego Padres, Ashford University has awarded a master’s degree scholarship to local Padres Scholar Brenda Ocampo. The award was presented on the field at PETCO Park prior to the June 25 home game against the Atlanta Braves.
“Our partnership with the San Diego Padres has introduced Ashford University to many new faces,” stated Jane McAuliffe, executive vice president and chief academic officer of Bridgepoint Education (NYSE: BPI), parent company of Ashford University. “We’re happy to have the opportunity to support eager graduate students with the Ashford Padres Scholarship.”
A native San Diegan, Ocampo will be applying for her Master’s of Arts in Education. In her application essays, she wrote about a desire to enhance her own education and educate others about the efforts required to overcome life’s obstacles.
All Padres Scholars who had earned their undergraduate degree were eligible to apply for the Ashford University masters’ scholarship, a grant that covers tuition, course materials and technology fees.
