Ashford University students and employees will pick up trash in the neighborhoods surrounding its Bluff and South campuses from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15 during its third annual “Good Neighbor Day.”
“This is one way we can show our appreciation to the people of our community,” said Audra Adams, service learning administrator. “Last year we nearly filled a dumpster with the trash that was collected.” She noted that community service is part of the curriculum of many of Ashford’s academic courses and its athletic teams and student organizations regularly participate in projects that benefit the community.
All Ashford employees and students have been invited to participate in the hands-on “Good Neighbor” project. They will meet in the St. Francis Gymnasium at 8:45 a.m. for refreshments, instructions and to collect supplies. Door prizes will be awarded and a light lunch will be provided once the project is completed.
“We’re hoping for a big turnout again this year,” Adams said.
