In honor of Veteran’s Day, Ashford University, in conjunction with NBC 7 San Diego, is proud to present the first-ever Salute to Service Festival on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the NTC Promenade at Liberty Station.
“Ashford respects the sacrifice and dedication demonstrated by the men and women of the armed forces,” stated Doug Barling, senior director of military relations. “We have a close relationship with the military community that extends far beyond education. To us, ‘Duty, Honor and Education’ is more than a tag line; it’s a commitment to service.”
Guests are encouraged to bring their whole family for a day of entertainment, including live music, food (free with military ID, while supplies last), and appearances by San Diego Padres players and mixed martial arts fighters. A number of prizes will be given away, including a trip to the Grand Wailea Resort in Maui, with airfare provided by Hawaiian Airlines. Plus, kids can enjoy their own area with jump houses, a giant slide and more.
Guests will also have the opportunity to record a message to loved ones deployed abroad. NBC 7 San Diego will insert the messages into their Home Station San Diego program, which airs weekly to service members deployed oversees. Additionally, Ashford University will host a booth with educational information.
