Students' Group Plans 5K 'Saints Scuttle'
Ashford University race to benefit Children's Discovery Center

Ashford University’s Student Government Association is sponsoring its first “Saints Scuttle” cross country 5K race at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 13 at its South Campus Track and Field Complex, 1650 South 14th St., Clinton. Proceeds from the community service event will benefit Clinton’s Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center. 

The race kicks off next to the clubhouse at the former Clinton Country Club property and continues through the rugged terrain for 3.2 miles. The course is considered “cross country” as it flows through the old golf course, ending at the Ashford University Track Complex. 

A “Kids Fun Run,” preceding the 5K event and featuring a 100 meter dash and 400 meter dash, will be held on the new state-of-the-art Ashford University track at 5:30 p.m. Girls and boys ages 2-10 are eligible to participate in 100 meter dash and 400 meter dash. Girls and boys ages 5-10 are eligible to participate in 400 meter dash.  Boys and girls will run separately. 

Registration fee is $20.00 for the 5K race and $8.00 for the Kids Fun Run. Same day registration for the 5K race is $25.00 (until 5:30 p.m.) The registration fee includes t-shirt, chip timing by Accu-Split Timing Co., post race party entry (includes beverages and snacks), name published in the Clinton Herald and Saints Scuttle goodie bag. Race packets will be available for pickup on the race day from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the Ashford University Track And Field Complex’s upper parking lot (next to the clubhouse). 

A post race party is set for 7-10 p.m.at Gil’s Ballroom, 2620 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton.
