Ashford University Employees to Makeover Two Denver Public Schools
Volunteers will tackle various projects at South High and Grand Beacon Middle schools

South High and Grant Beacon Middle schools are getting a face-lift this weekend thanks to Ashford University, an institution that is redefining the modern college experience. About 90 Ashford employees and their families will gather at the schools on Saturday, June 2 at 8 a.m. to complete various tasks and projects geared toward the revitalization effort.

“This is a great opportunity to give back to the community covering two of our social responsibility focus areas: education and youth,” said Mitch Thomas, vice president of the Denver Online Center. “We are really excited to help create a more welcoming learning environment for these students.”

Working with Denver Public Schools Foundation, Ashford University volunteers will complete landscaping projects at South High School located at 1700 E. Louisiana Ave. At Grant Beacon Middle School, located at 1751 S. Washington St., volunteers will participate in several activities to include picking up trash, landscaping, repainting the blacktop area, painting a mural, and renovating the weight room.

The mission of Denver Public Schools Foundation is to, in partnership with Denver Public Schools, raise and manage funds, make strategic program investments, and serve as community leaders so that all students have the opportunity to succeed. Ashford University donated funds to the foundation to purchase floor mats for the Grant Beacon Middle School gym.
