Ashford University Employees Educate more than 5,800 Denver Area Students in the Basics of Finance
177 Ashford University volunteers support Junior Achievement in the 2011/12 school year

During the 2011/12 school year, 177 Ashford University employees dedicated their time to inspiring and preparing 5,806 local students to succeed in the 21st century workplace and global economy. Ashford employees taught lesson plans developed by Junior Achievement (JA) in elementary, middle and high school classrooms as well as through JA’s newest program, JA Finance Park. JA programs focus on three areas: entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work readiness.

“Without the commitment of volunteers, like these Ashford University employees, Junior Achievement would not be possible,” said Robin Wise, president and chief executive officer of Junior Achievement. “During the 2011/2012 school year, JA mobilized 4,700 volunteers to teach our curriculum to students in our community. These children benefit from learning hands-on about business, entrepreneurship and free enterprise through the real life experiences from our dedicated volunteers.”

“We’re proud of our partnership with Junior Achievement that allows us to bring our business and educational experiences into the classroom,” said Mitch Thomas, vice president of Ashford University’s Denver Online Center. “As a growing employer in the region, it is vital that we share the good business practices we put into place on a daily basis with the future generation of business leaders.”
