A total of 40 military mothers-to-be were all smiles yesterday following their group baby shower presented by Ashford University and Operation Shower. The event was hosted by San Diego’s Amy Mickelson, the wife of PGA Tour player Phil Mickelson, and held during the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course from 12 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22. The shower is designed to show appreciation for the service and sacrifice of these expectant mothers whose spouses are deployed members of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Navy SEALs, U.S. Marine Corps and California Army National Guard.

“We are thankful to Ashford University and other supporting sponsors for making this event possible. For women who are expecting a new baby and whose spouses are deployed or soon to be deployed, the impending arrival of a child can be both exciting and stressful,” said Operation.

Shower Founder and Chief Shower Officer LeAnn Morrissey. “Operation Shower was created specifically because military moms are typically the ones who hold it all together at home while their spouses are deployed to another part of the world and they deserve our love and support.”

Each mom-to-be received Operation Shower’s signature “Shower in a Box” – a gift of high-quality products for mothers and babies that have been generously donated by companies. In keeping with the theme of "Go, Baby Go!," a Radio Flyer ride-on toy and a Maclaren stroller were given to each of the moms.
