Ashford University Students Bring Home ADDY Awards
ADDY awards presented for students' creative entries

Five Ashford University students received seven ADDY Awards during a gala ceremony sponsored by American Advertising Federation: Cedar Rapids-Iowa City (AAF: CR-IC) on Feb. 23.

Conducted annually by the AAF, the local ADDY Awards is the first of a three-tiered, national competition for outstanding advertising, marketing and communication work. During the first phase, local entrants vie for recognition as the best in their markets. Local winners then compete against other winners in one of 14 district competitions. Finally, district winners are forwarded to the national ADDY Awards competition. The student ADDYs, a sub-category of the national ADDY Awards competition, recognize and reward creative excellence by students.

Ashford students receiving awards were:

Christie Dillie, Davenport, Iowa: Silver ADDY (Visual, Photography, Black and White)

Duncan Forgey, Clinton, Iowa: Silver ADDY (Visual, Illustration, Single) and Silver ADDY (Visual, Animation or Special Effects)

McClain Laud, Moline, IL: Silver ADDY (Visual, Illustration, Single)

Nick Teachout, Clinton, Iowa: Silver ADDY (Visual, Illustration, Single)

Rachel Yoder, Farley, Iowa: Gold ADDY (Visual, Photography, Color) and Gold ADDY (Visual, Photography, Color)

“The ADDY’s provide students an excellent opportunity to showcase their work and talents among their peers and in the professional advertising community,” said Dr. Charlie Minnick, dean of Ashford’s College of Business and Professional Studies. “We are incredibly proud of our students and their commitment to their craft and for being excellent representatives of the College of Business and Professional Studies and the University as a whole. I am equally proud of our faculty who teach, mentor, and encourage our students on a daily basis.”

The ADDY Awards Gala was held at the Paramount Theatre in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
