Ashford Students Participate in National Leadership Conference
Awards collected at Phi Beta Lambda event

Twelve members of Ashford University’s Phi Beta Lambda organization participated in the 2014 Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL), National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee on June 24-27.

More than 1,800 of America’s best and brightest college students traveled to Nashville to showcase their talents as future business leaders and compete for the opportunity to win more than $79,000.00 in cash awards. Participants from across the United States and two countries attended the conference to sharpen their core business skills, expand their networks and participate in more than 55 business and business-related competitive events.

At the 2014 PBL Awards of Excellence ceremony on June 24, Ashford students received the following awards:

  • Alexander Richie, St. Louis, Mo., and Andrew Filler, Oakville, ON, second place in Management Analysis and Decision Making ($100.00)
  • Scott Madsen, Charlotte, Iowa, third place in Cost Accounting ($50.00)
  • Izaak Williams, Lake Ozark, Mo., ninth place in Business Law                 
  • Scott Madsen, ninth place in Client Services

The awards were part of a comprehensive national competitive events program that rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. For many students, the competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers. In addition to the competitions, students attended educational workshops, visited an exhibit hall and attended motivational presentations on various business topics.
