SAN DIEGO

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Ashford University today announced its most recent partnership and articulation agreement with ChildCare Education Institute (CCEI), a Georgia-based distance training institution exclusively dedicated to the child care industry. The partnership allows ChildCare Education Institute's students the opportunity to transfer their CCEI credits into one of Ashford's acclaimed online bachelor's programs.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for Ashford University to recruit students for our newly launched Early Childhood Education program, as well as for our Early Childhood Administration program," said Rebecca Wardlow, Ed.D., AU's Program Director for Education. "The high quality training, wide variety of courses, and experienced faculty provided by the ChildCare Education Institute will provide students transferring into Ashford with a solid foundation and understanding of early childhood education."

David Vande Pol, Ashford University's Senior Director of Academic Partnerships, added, "Ashford University and ChildCare Education Institute enter into this articulation agreement in the spirit of cooperation and to mutually recognize each other as quality institutions of higher learning. We're very pleased to be partnering with this institution of learning."

CCEI students graduating from the Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate program and CDA-equivalent programs are now permitted to transfer the coursework from these programs to receive up to 8 units of AU credit: Early Childhood Education (ECE) 101 (3 credits), ECE 214 (3 credits), and 2 elective credits.

In addition, CCEI students completing professional development courses also have the opportunity to transfer credits to Ashford University. Under the terms of Ashford's transfer credit policy, 15 clock hours of completed CCEI professional development coursework will translate to one unit of credit at Ashford University.

"The ability to obtain college credit for coursework, completed to meet annual job training requirements, provides a streamlined path for child care workers to move up the career ladder," said CCEI's CEO, Maria Taylor. "As the education requirements for child care staff continue to increase, partnerships like this one open up opportunities for early childhood teachers to meet their educational goals, which increasingly include a college degree."

To date, Ashford University maintains 22 articulation agreements representing 45 colleges.
