Ashford University will sponsor its second annual San Diego County Special Olympics tennis clinic on Monday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. The Peninsula Tennis Club of San Diego will host the event and the men’s and women’s varsity tennis programs from the University of San Diego and San Diego State University plan to participate in the clinic. 

David Vande Pol, Ashford’s Senior Director of Academic Partnerships, who’s organizing the event, said, “Ashford University is delighted to sponsor this event again this year and we are proud to be involved with Special Olympics.” He said that more than 50 people attended the 2007 clinic and this year’s event is expected to draw even more participants. 

            The USD and SDSU tennis teams will give a short exhibition of tennis skills followed by an hour and a half clinic. The Special Olympians will participate in active drilling, with the collegiate coaches and players assisting by feeding balls and lending support.
