Ashford University helps to Raise more then $25,000 for Haiti Earthquake Survivors

Ashford University announced today that its faculty and staff helped to raise a total of $12,542.75 for the Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The management team of Ashford’s parent company – Bridgepoint Education – matched the amount donated by all Bridgepoint, Ashford, and its other academic institution – University of the Rockies – for a total of $25,085.50 going to aid Haiti earthquake survivors.

“I am incredibly proud of our Ashford University, University of the Rockies, and Bridgepoint Education employees for demonstrating, yet again, a deep commitment to world service and a compassion for others. When catastrophes like this happen, it reinforces how fortunate we are to have the bare necessities like food, clean water, medical care, and the safety of our loved ones and children,” said Bridgepoint Education CEO Andrew Clark.

“The money we raised for the Red Cross will provide more than one million liters of water per day, enough for 300,000 people. Our donation will also go towards the purchase of food and relief items such as blankets, kitchen sets, hygiene kits, buckets, soap and mosquito nets,” added Clark.

Just after the terrible tragedy in Haiti, Bridgepoint management made the matching donation offer to its employees, pledging to match dollar for dollar – through the end of January – all donations made to the Haiti Relief Fund by anyone within the Bridgepoint family.

The Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund provides immediate relief and long-term support to survivors of the Haiti earthquake through supplies, technical assistance and other support to those in need. Outreach teams also distribute badly needed materials such as medical supplies, tarps, blankets, hygiene items, buckets, shelter supplies and kitchen sets. Eventually, the fund will help to rebuild the devastated areas.
