Ashford University Introduces New Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Behavioral Science

Ashford University has introduced a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Behavioral Science. The new degree program was designed for individuals looking to develop critical thinking skills through the application of theoretical and empirical knowledge drawn from the social and behavioral sciences. The interdisciplinary nature of the Applied Behavioral Science degree will help students examine human behavior and social problems in diverse community settings.   

“This new degree enables students to draw from the foundations of both psychology and sociology in order to study the broad diversity of societal problems and provide students with an interdisciplinary framework for solutions,” said Dr. Alice Vestergaard, Ashford University College of Arts and Sciences program director. “Students who study in this degree program will develop the skills necessary to analyze community issues and problems and make recommendations for improvement and change using valid scientific tools taught in this degree program.” 

Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science will be prepared to embark on numerous career paths. Possible career fields include human resources, social work, religious studies, criminal justice, law enforcement, mental health, counseling, psychology, hospitality, family and consumer science, youth services, political sciences, early childhood education, juvenile justice, rehabilitation, urban planning and community development. The same diversity of career paths may be pursued in an academic context at the graduate level. 

Ashford University’s Bachelor of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science is currently available online only. This degree does not lead to any licensure or certification of any kind.
