Community Invited to Ashford University Day-Long Celebration on August 31
New Soccer Field Festivities Begin at 3 p.m.

The community is invited to Ashford University's day-long celebration of its largest class, Saints team spirit and first soccer game at the new Athletic Complex on Aug. 31.

The celebration begins with a noon kick-off pep rally at the Ashford University campus, St. Clare courtyard, 400 N. Bluff Boulevard. Ashford University President Jane McAuliffe and University Vice-President and Campus Director John Ballheim will lead the Team Ashford brigade welcoming more on-campus students than ever before, firing everyone up for the evening's game and sharing exciting news announcements.

Student ambassadors will conduct on-campus tours, open to the public from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Special events recognizing Tuition Scholarship recipients and Ashford University alumni will also be held throughout the day.

At 3 p.m., the spotlight turns to the new soccer stadium, 1650 S. 14th St., with a Community Cookout at Clinton's newest landmark. Everybody – students, faculty and all of the Clinton community – is invited. The first 500 will be treated to free food and AU pennants.

Dedication ceremonies are at 4 p.m. The historic first game on the new soccer field begins at 5 p.m.

For the debut, the women's soccer team takes on Trinity Christian College. Last year, the Ashford Saints defeated the Trinity Trolls, who were ranked eighth in the nation.

"Set in a scenic valley amidst rolling hills, our new soccer field is awe-inspiring with National Football League quality artificial green turf; Ashford's magnificent midfield logo; and dramatic stadium lighting. Bleachers will seat approximately 500. It's Clinton's own 'Field of Dreams'," Ballheim said.

"The new school year is about to get off to a great start, and we look forward to sharing our enthusiasm and excitement with the community on Aug. 31."
