Ashford University Introduces Bachelors of Arts Degree in Military Studies

Ashford University has announced a new Bachelor of Arts degree in Military Studies. This program was designed for military service members who are looking for advancement in all branches of the military as well as for students who are interested in a strong liberal arts degree with a military focus.

The creation of the Bachelor of Arts degree in Military Studies program was driven by Ashford’s commitment to military students. Military Studies focuses on the study of the military in war and peace, and includes a broad range of interdisciplinary courses that will prepare all students with an excellent foundation in the liberal arts. Ashford has developed coursework that is intriguing and provides students with the strong research, analysis and critical thinking skills that will serve them throughout their careers. In addition, Ashford is among a select number of institutions dedicated to providing military studies as an accessible, baccalaureate program to those in military service, making the degree an ideal option for troops stationed overseas.

“We are pleased to offer a broad yet comprehensive range of courses in our new Military Studies bachelor degree program,” said Dr. Curt Lowe, dean of the College of Liberal Arts. “This degree engages students on many levels and includes military history, leadership studies, literature in the context of war, and the anthropology of war. Students will find this program challenging and rewarding.”

The Bachelor of Arts in Military Studies will provide opportunities for military service members to obtain higher education that will not only be accessible and affordable, but also relevant to their career goals. This program is a natural entry point for students interested in earning a degree for promotion and advancement.

Ashford University’s Bachelor of Arts in Military Studies does not lead to licensure or certification of any kind. Students completing this degree may pursue advancement in their careers, but they will not be graduated as officers in the United States Armed Forces. This program does not substitute for the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program.
