Ashford University Sponsors San Diego Health Care Reform Forum

Ashford University is working with the San Diego North Chamber of Commerce and several major hospitals in the San Diego area to present an informative forum on health care reform. The event, which is open to the public, will take place on Nov. 10.

Citizens, employers and healthcare providers have had many questions about the ramifications of the new healthcare reform legislation that was enacted by the U.S. Congress earlier this year. The Health Care Reform Forum seeks to provide answers to many of those questions. A panel consisting of top executives from San Diego’s leading hospitals will discuss how health care reform will impact medical service providers and how patients will be affected when they seek medical care. Confirmed panelists include Tom Jackiewicz, chief executive officer of UCSD Health Systems; Steve O’Kane, chief executive officer of the Council of Community Clinics; James Malone, medical group administrator of Kaiser Permanente; Robert Hemker, chief financial officer of Palomar Pomerado Health and Dr. John Jenrette, chief executive officer of Sharp Community Medical Group. The panel discussion will be moderated by Neil Crosby who is a former president of the San Diego Association of Health Underwriters.

The forum is soliciting questions to be addressed by the panel. To submit a question, send an email to msanford@sdncc.com with “Health Forum Question” as a subject line.“The Health Care Reform Forum is an excellent opportunity for San Diego residents to learn about the impact of the new legislation,” said Chad Williamson, Ashford University director of national accounts. “Ashford University is pleased to be able to provide this valuable service to the community.”

The Health Care Reform Forum will be held at the San Diego headquarters of Ashford University’s parent company, Bridgepoint Education. The event will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Bridgepoint Education Leadership Room, located at 13500 Evening Creek Drive North.
