Clinton School Official Speaks to Ashford University Student Organization

Jan Culbertson, chief financial officer of the Clinton Community School District, was the first speaker in the Ashford University Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) group’s “Celebrate Business Education” series.

Culbertson, who began her position as the local schools’ CFO in February of this year, made a presentation on Nov. 2 to members of Ashford’s PBL, a national organization for students interested in pursuing a business career.

Prior to taking the position in Clinton, Culbertson was the business manager at Maquoketa Community Schools and Central Community Schools in DeWitt.  She has served in leadership positions on area school boards and was President of the DeWitt Chamber of Commerce. Culbertson was also involved in the Lion’s International organization and received the first professional leadership award from the Iowa Association of School Business Professionals.

Ashford’s Phi Beta Lambda organization continues to celebrate business education with a conversation with entrepreneur and real estate investor Patrick Lonergan on Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 11:55 a.m.-12:25 p.m. in Room A286 of St. Clare Hall. Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited. Lonergan owns more than 2,400 apartment units and his management company oversees 3,500 units in six states as well as commercial properties and assisted living facilities.  He also helps clients manage and protect their wealth as a financial services professional with New York Life.  Lonergan graduated in 2001 with a BA degree in political science from Simpson College.
