Students Attend 2010 Future Business Leaders of America/Phi Beta Lambda Event

Three Ashford University students were among the more than 1,300 high school Future Business Leaders of America and between 150-200 collegiate Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) members who attended the 2010 National Fall Leadership Conference in Des Moines, IA on Nov. 5 and 6.

The Ashford students, accompanied by co-advisers David Ward and Diane Cornilsen and chaperone William Woods, attended a variety of workshops, including “Networking 101,” “Multi-Generational Work Force: Managing Our Future,” “Campus Casual to Corporate,” “Working and Dealing with Difficult People,” “Discover the Secrets to Planning” and “Are You Ready to Compete?” Keynote speaker and certified life success coach, Alton Jamison, shared his story about “Removing the Mental Handcuffs from Your Life.”

Christina Justice, president of Ashford University’s PBL chapter, attended the conference, calling it “very exciting”.

“Since it was a national conference, more people were involved, and it provided a networking opportunity,” said Justice. “Networking with prospective employers is very beneficial, especially when looking to enter the job market. I loved this conference.”
