Ashford University Begins Enrollment for New Health Care Studies Undergraduate Program

Ashford University announced the addition of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Care Studies to its list of undergraduate program offerings. Designed to meet the needs of students pursuing careers in health care in a non-clinical setting, the Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Care Studies supports Ashford University’s continued mission to provide all students with access to high-quality, innovative, easily accessible academic degree program options.

“The health care industry is one of the largest in the United States, and is predicted to continue to grow, with jobs increasing at twice the rate of the overall economy,” stated Dr. Curt Lowe, dean of Ashford University’s College of Arts and Sciences. “This degree is primarily targeted at two groups of potential students who previously were not being served by our current programs: those already working in health care in non-clinical positions who want to earn their bachelor’s degree, and those in other industries who wish to make the transition into the health care field,” he said.

Students enrolled in Ashford University’s Bachelor of Arts in Health Care Studies degree program will learn about the physiological, sociological, behavioral and business aspects
of the health care industry; academically preparing them for careers in a variety of health-related disciplines.

“The curriculum for the Bachelor of Arts in Health Care Studies degree program provides a solid foundation of applicable industry-related subject matter,” said Mary Alexander, program director for Ashford University’s College of Arts and Sciences.

Added James Jeremiah, director of online academic affairs for Ashford University, “This program prepares students for the health care needs of today, as well as the health care needs of tomorrow.”

The new bachelor’s degree program is available to both online and on-campus students, and has been approved by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools as postsecondary academic degree programs.

Ashford University’s Bachelor of Arts in Health Care Studies degree program does not include any additional professional licensures or certifications. Students seeking licensure or certification should consult the appropriate corresponding entities.   To learn more or to apply for any of these newly available programs, please visit www.ashford.edu.
